The city of Toro rises majestically on a natural height above the River Duero. On arrival, the landscape of the Vega can be enjoyed from several viewpoints, especially El Espolón. This beautiful setting is only the beginning of the family adventure. Toro is an excellent family destination because it preserves an extraordinary heritage and is easy to explore on foot with children. The Marco Topo game takes you to the Collegiate Church, the town’s most emblematic monument, where it highlights features such as the Pórtico de la Majestad and the dome over the crossing. The adventure visits Toro’s main Mudéjar churches, including San Lorenzo el Real, San Salvador de los Caballeros and Santo Sepulcro. You will also enjoy a pleasant walk around the arcaded Plaza Mayor, where many examples of traditional brick and timber-framed architecture can be seen. The walk ends at the Clock Arch, a former entrance gate to the town. Throughout the game there are references to wine, local wineries and the Toro Designation of Origin, a wine traditionally said to have travelled to the Americas on Columbus’s expedition. The Alcázar, bullring and Sancti Spiritus Monastery are also stops on the adventure.
