Marco Topo and his sister Marta invite you to discover this charming white village in Málaga province as a family. If there is one village that embodies the picturesque image of traditional Andalusia, it is Frigiliana, which is included among Spain’s most beautiful villages. In this adventure, Marta Topo guides you through Frigiliana’s whitewashed streets and shows you its main treasures. If you look carefully at Marta, you will see that she is embroidering fabric, a tribute to Frigiliana’s craft tradition and the many small shops selling locally made products. The route takes you into narrow, winding streets such as Hernando el Darra and Callejón del Inquisidor. The upper part of the town is its oldest district, the Barribarto, once home to the Moriscos. Their architectural influence can still be seen in traditional structures such as tinaos, where parts of houses extend over the street to make the most of the available space. The coexistence of Christian, Muslim and Jewish cultures in Frigiliana was represented on an old ceramic vessel. In recent years, the Frigiliana Three Cultures Festival has been held every summer to commemorate this historical coexistence.
