Discover Cantillana by playing

The Marco Topo adventure in Cantillana consists of two routes: one through the town centre in the Guadalquivir Valley and another through the countryside, following the remains of old mills beside the River Viar. For this adventure, Marco is dressed as José Pérez Ocaña, a local artist regarded as an important figure in Spanish art and culture in the second half of the 20th century. His sister Marta also wears special clothing: a Manila shawl handmade in one of Cantillana’s workshops, representing a traditional craft that is one of the town’s hallmarks. During the game, Marco and Marta invite families to visit the places marked on their maps and solve challenges that reveal emblematic sites such as the former river port of the Roman settlement of Naeva, Plaza del Palacio, the Clock Tower, Plaza del Llano, Callejón de los Besos Robados, the Parish Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción and the Sanctuary of the Divina Pastora. The game visits the Interpretation Centre dedicated to Ocaña’s work and introduces the churches and ceramic tiles associated with the two Marian devotions most deeply rooted in Cantillana: the Divina Pastora and the Virgen de la Asunción. The celebrations held in their honour have been declared Festivals of National Tourist Interest. The route along the abandoned mills of the River Viar is a pleasant family walk where players answer questions by observing plants, animals, rocks and mill remains along the way. It is an entertaining and educational way to learn about natural, geological and industrial heritage together as a family.
