The Marco Topo adventure in Alcalá del Júcar takes you through the town from the castle, which crowns its highest point, down to the River Júcar at the foot of the village. The game challenges will ask you about the medieval castle rebuilt by Juan Pacheco, Marquis of Villena. You will also visit one of Alcalá's cave houses, a traditional type of dwelling excavated into the rock that is characteristic of La Manchuela. As you descend towards the River Júcar, you will see how the unusual terrain shapes the layout of Alcalá's houses, which climb the hillside following the curve of the Júcar gorge. This distinctive feature is one of the main attractions of the historic centre, declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1982. You will also discover the Church of San Andrés, whose setting beside the river and bridge is one of Alcalá's most beautiful views. Next, you will cross the Roman Bridge and discover the Water Route, a lovely walk of around ten minutes along the river and its water channel.
