Gernika is an essential place to visit in the Basque Country. Internationally known for the terrible bombing that inspired Pablo Picasso’s painting Guernica, this historic town is also home to two of the Basque Country’s most important symbols: the Tree of Gernika and the Assembly House. Enjoy family tourism in Gernika with Marco Topo and discover its art, heritage, culture and traditions. The Peace Museum and the Euskal Herria Museum are both stops on the Marco Topo adventure and are well worth discovering as a family. The nearby Urdaibai Reserve is a natural area declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. In its marshes you can see many species of birds and enjoy beautiful beaches.
