The Marco Topo adventure through MECYL provides families with children and school groups with a self-guided route across its five floors. Discover Zamora through play
The Marco Topo adventure at MECYL introduces families and school groups to the cultural heritage of Castilla y León through a selection of remarkable objects that reveal aspects of everyday life in traditional society. The game explores Zamora pottery, vernacular architecture, bread stamps, toys, magical beliefs and superstition, traditional clothing, festivals such as masquerades and the relationship between humans and wolves. This time Marta Topo, Marco's sister, guides children through the MECYL adventure. Marta is dressed in one of the most extraordinary pieces you can see in the museum: the traje de vistas from La Alberca. This traditional wedding costume is striking for the large number of jewels it includes and for its cultural, symbolic, aesthetic and social significance. During your visit you will also see other spectacular objects displayed by MECYL, including an impressive collection of pastoral art, ceramic pitchers and jars, a traditional Capa de Chivas from Aliste in Zamora and costumes worn by characters in Castilian masquerades such as the Zangarrón.
