In this adventure, Marco Topo is dressed as El Cid Campeador, the most famous figure in the history of Burgos, and introduces you to some of the wonders of this historic medieval city. During your visit, you and your family will discover an exceptionally rich artistic and monumental heritage headed by the magnificent Cathedral, a masterpiece of European Gothic architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With Marco Topo’s interactive game, you will walk along medieval streets in the historic centre, visit Plaza Mayor, the emblematic Paseo del Espolón, Plaza del Cid Campeador and Paseo de Atapuerca. You will also visit the Museum of Burgos, which displays the famous sword associated with El Cid, Tizona. As well as playing Marco Topo, do not leave Burgos without visiting the Museum of Human Evolution, a modern glass building where you can see original fossils from the Atapuerca sites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Marco Topo has another adventure inside the museum so families can enjoy an educational and entertaining visit. On the outskirts of the city, the Monastery of Las Huelgas Reales, the Charterhouse of Miraflores and San Pedro de Cardeña are also well worth visiting. Families with children may also enjoy the Bird Information Centre at Burgos Castle and parks such as Fuentes Blancas and El Parral.
